For Valentine's I decided to share my love of the arts with Steve. What better than signing up for pottery classes at the Angel's Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro! http://www.angelsgateart.org/classes.html
We started our sessions 3 weeks ago with Roy Kunisaki (a LB State Art Dept. Alumni, like myself). Steve took to wheel throwing like a champ, amazing a regular patron, who was baffled that it was only his first time! I informed Roy that Steve is great with his hands (get your head outta the gutter) i.e. carpentry and totally a Mr. Fix-it type (but not when it comes to cars)!

The Cultural Center has been transformed from old Army barracks, and tons of underground tunnels they are looking into turning into gallery space. It has still has a creepy, cold quality to it, but the view is amazing...sitting right on the hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Korean Friendship bell.
So far we have thrown 4 pieces each, and trimmed them on our last visit. Next week, glazing!!!
More to come!
